Scholé Christian Tradition believes every family should have access to the information they need to make the best decision for their family.
Each family may ask different questions, but each is equally important to us! Our desire is for your decision to be a confident one!
We have compiled the most common questions, but If you do not see your question listed below, please contact us.
We do not anticipate combining any classes in this stage.
Knowledge Stage
In some cases, these grades will be combined when it is beneficial for both students and tutors. For example, 5th and 6th-grade girls might be combined for literature, or boys and girls separated for science.
Understanding Stage
Wisdom stage classes will be combined more often (9th/10th & 11th/12th).
Wisdom Stage
We appreciate donations with a grateful heart. Please contact us with any questions.
We want more dads to teach, volunteer, and nurture the spiritual life at Scholé, as well as lead enrichment opportunities like book clubs, carpentry, robotics, coding, fishing trips, etc.
Our name shows how we learn, who we are, and what we pass down.
Scholé | (Greek) restful learning; contemplation and conversation + diligence |
Christian | “The history of mankind will probably show that no people has ever risen above its religion, and man’s spiritual history will positively demonstrate that no religion has ever been greater than its idea of God.” -A.W. Tozer |
Tradition | Through the study of those truths which have stood the test of time, beginning with the Logos, we endeavor to continue to transfer that which is worth holding, in order to preserve the soul of the one receiving. |
Our foundation is built upon primary sources.
SCT‘s approach to curriculum development is to work backwards, first looking at the telos, or end result. An SCT graduate should be a virtuous person with the skills of an autodidact that has been steeped in the knowledge of our Christian classical tradition. This process begins in the Knowledge stage and progresses through Understanding to Wisdom and is an undertaking which gradually weans the learner off of passively-received, packaged curricula as they continuously hone their analysis skills.
At the Knowledge stage, a combination of original and prepared curriculum will be used.
Knowledge Stage
In grade 5th-12th, our goal is to teach primary source literacy in order to give students the skills and abilities to analyze literature and sources. However, some outside textbooks or packaged curriculum may be used.
Understanding Stage
At the Wisdom level, 9-12th students will be nearly exclusively reliant on those sources including the Bible, the Constitution, speeches and legal documents, and not on textbooks, since those skills will be honed in the Understanding level, or 5th-8th grade. Therefore, units are developed around the literature and sources the students will be reading.
Wisdom Stage
Simply put, we are not a school. We are a non-profit organization that serves Christian homeschooling families by partnering with them to provide a more full education experience.
We are a Christian, private, educational partnership for homeschooling families — a teaching service with 1, 2, and 3 Day on-campus options.
Parents teach the balance of the 5 Days at home.
We are Christian before we are classical. However, classical education is pedagogy that has worked for centuries. We hold dear those things that have stood the test of time.
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, there is a strong preference for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. However, this has not been finalized.
Please see our Program Options for more specifics.
All these families in our community are Christian homeschooling families that desire a hybrid approach to their child’s education.
We are currently located in the heart of Jeffersontown in Louisville, KY.
We use a mix of self-developed, open source (original sources), and published material (if we feel it is best).
Our educational time is structured. We run off a block schedule. Younger grades have an homeroom tutor as well as music, Latin, and PE tutors, while older grades will have tutors for each subject. We have a variety of teaching methods depending upon the material being covered: labs, discussion, lecture, role-play, drama, etc.
As the instructor at home, you have the freedom to shape your day as best suits your family. There will be assignments each child will need to complete at home, but there is certainly flexibility with how best to complete the assignments and reach the learning objectives.
